A tag design rooted in the artwork.

Helix derives its optical design from the artwork’s committed evidence and recorded creator information. The relationship can be recomputed and checked alongside the signed credential.

Its published guide describes serial-to-certificate association; it does not describe deriving the physical tag from artwork and creator inputs. Verisart also documents signed archives, verified-creator status and Bitcoin timestamps.

Design derivation and physical assurance are separate.

In Helix, “creator” is the name declared in the artwork record, not independently verified identity. The design does not encode a passkey or private signing key. Helix also assigns unit serials and uses QR/NFC locators. A reproducible design can be copied: fabrication, enrolled physical response, fresh-object matching and attachment resistance still need qualification. An ordinary NFC link does not establish those properties.

Other approaches deserve their own category. Artclear and Alitheon derive fingerprints from the object’s actual surface. They are not merely serial-number registries. The grid compares these mechanisms without claiming universal exclusivity or independently measured superiority.

How to read this comparison

This is HelixAuth’s comparison of selected established art-provenance, collection-management and product-identity alternatives. It is not an exhaustive market census, independent benchmark or endorsement. Competitor entries summarize the linked public documentation; commercial availability and configuration should be confirmed with the vendor.

“Not documented” means the cited material did not establish the capability. It does not mean the vendor cannot provide it. A certificate PDF, an online passport and a self-contained evidence package are different deliverables. Symbols summarize the precise criterion under each column heading, not overall product quality.

Where Helix stands today

Helix combines signed evidence packages, recipient-accepted custody transfers and a public history view. Its current software tests cover these flows and their privacy boundaries. It remains a beta: physical anti-copy performance, attachment safety and independent operational assurance require further validation.

Helix does not currently provide Bitcoin timestamps, verified-creator identity badges, payments, resale royalties or legal-title certification. Post-quantum signatures protect signed records; they do not make the physical object unclonable.
